Adult $5
Kids $0
Rules
• Adult Competition will include all contestants16
years and older. Kids Competition will include all contestants
under the age of 16 years old.
•
Contestants will play 2 different tunes not to
exceed a total of 5 minutes of playing time.
•
Contestants are allowed
to compete in one instrument category, only.
• In the event of a tied score, the winner will be decided
by a coin toss.
• Members of performing bands at the festival cannot
compete.
•
Contestants may have a total of 2 accompanists.
• In the Adult
Contest, if less than 3 contestants are registered to compete
in any category, they
will be placed in an “Open Contest” to
compete against other instrument categories that fail to meet
the same three contestant minimum rule.
•Contestants will be judged on the basis of:
1) Overall ability,
2) Rhythm and timing, and 3) Tone Quality.

• Deadline for entry is July 20th.
• $20.00 entry fee must accompany submission
• Contest open to amateur and professional Bluegrass Bands.
• Make checks and money orders payable to:
Columbia Gorge
Bluegrass Festival
• Each band must play three (3) tunes, Each band will have
a limit of 15 minutes or the end of their selections: whichever
comes first.
• Audience response is not considered in judging.
• Judges reserve the right to request a playoff in case
of a tie.
• By entering the contest, all bands agree to release to
the
Columbia Gorge Bluegrass Festival all rights and privileges to
use likenesses (still pictures, videos, audio recordings or
any other medium
deemed necessary) for the purpose of event promotion.
• The Columbia Gorge Bluegrass Festival reserve the right
to make changes in rules and operational procedures so as
to promote a fair and equitable contest and will not be held responsible for
any inconveniences imposed upon contestants or others for doing so.
